Damage Policy

CTE TRAVEL carry out damage policy to explain how you will pay for any damage you make to the vehicle during your rental. For the full version of this policy, please see our Terms and Conditions.

Please note that depending on the type of protection you bought for the rental, you may not have to pay for the damage, or you may only be partially liable. See the CTE TRAVEL Insurance & Protections provisions in the Terms & Conditions.

1-Damages with you at vehicle return
If you identify some damage with the CTE TRAVEL agent or representative when you return the vehicle, you can acknowledge the damage by signing the Statement of Return of the Vehicle. An invoice will be issued to you advising the repair costs in addition to an administration fee for handling of the Damage and the Vehicle immobilization that will be charged to you.

Repair costs:This costs differ and depend on type of damage:
→Small damage, which does not influence the safe driving of the vehicle, such as scratches on bumpers; light impacts on windshield, : Charges will base on the CTE TRAVEL according to our list

→ More essential damage destroys the use of the vehicle and requiring its temporary immobilization, such as bodywork damage. In this case this damage will be rated and estimated by an independent expert and charged according to his report or a cost estimation made by an independent auto-repair garage. If you contest the damages and refuse to sign the statement of return of the Vehicle, CTE TRAVEL will apply the steps mentioned below (see the section 2).

2. Damages recognized after you have finished the rental and departed
(For example, you left the vehicle outside opening hours)

If the CTE TRAVEL Agent or representative identifies some damage when they examine the vehicle after you have finished the rental and departed, CTE TRAVEL will send you the following documents:
– Statement of return of the Vehicle describing all damages identified
– Photos of Damages
– An estimated repair costs which will vary depending of the type of damage (see above) plus an administration fee for the treatment of the damage and the Vehicle immobilization.

If you wish to contest the damage identified or the cost of repair, you should contact us by email or letter within 14 days of the documents being sent. At the end of this 14-day period, CTE TRAVEL may invoice you for the repair cost and administration fees.

3. Claims
If you wish to contest your damage invoice, you can send a claim to our company email ( info@ctetravel.com)

VAT:

Tax of 14% is being added on total invoice, this tax is applied as per Egyptian Laws and is known as a sales tax.

Rental Period
The Rental period is the total time the vehicle will be with customer the customer. It will be calculated based of invisible periods of 24 hours starting from the time the vehicle is made available. However, a 30 minutes grace period is applied at the end of the rental before the start of a new 24 hour period. Extension of the rental original duration:
If  the customer decide to have the vehicle for more time than the mentioned in the rental agreement, then the customer have to ask for an extension of the rental period. This have to be done through the booking source and the customer should verify the extension with any CTE TRAVEL Egypt locations. In case of extending through CTE TRAVEL Egypt, the customer should communicate with CTE TRAVEL station 72 hours before the start of the extension period.

Airport surcharge:
Rate offered from CTE TRAVEL Egypt in its stations in airports include airport Surcharge

Driver Age:
As per CTE TRAVEL Egypt regulation the minimum diver’s age is different from each car category. These ages shown below: MDMR / EDMR / CDAR / DDAR: 22 years old IMAR / SDAR: 25 years old SFAR / IFAR: 28 years old If the customer’s age is between 22 to 24 the customer can rent a IMAR or/and SADR with an extra 10 USD (with max. 100 USD)

Addition Driver:
CTE TRAVEL Egypt terms and conditions declares that only the authorized person (the same name as shown in the rental agreement) has the legal right to drive the vehicle in the agreed rental period. However, an additional authorized driver can be added in the rental agreement and is subjected to all terms and conditions applied to the main driver and will be with an additional 4 USD per day (max. 60 USD) excluding tax.

Driving License:

CTE TRAVEL Egypt terms and conditions states that the customer’s driving license should be valid for at least 1 year from the start of the rental period for all categories. For non-Egyptian customers an international driving license is Obligatory.

Traffic Violation:
The customer is fully liable during the rental period to the vehicle, accordingly if any traffic violation happens during this period, CTE TRAVEL Egypt has the right to claim the cost of that violation.

Insurance and Wavier Information:
It is important to understand how we will manage the damage if it does happen. CTE TRAVEL Egypt has identify a clear and simple damage management policy to clarify to the customer the invoice method for any damage made to the vehicle during the rental period. All CTE TRAVEL Egypt vehicles are fully insured against any collision, theft and attempt theft damages. When renting the vehicle, the customer has to present a valid credit card in CTE TRAVEL Egypt station and a fixed amount will be blocked depending on the car category rented, this amount is identified as “Rental Deposit “or “Excess amount”. In case of vehicle damage the customer, charges will be applied up to a maximum of the excess amount and will be debited from the blocked amount, in case the damage occurs as a result of reckless or negligent behavior or under the influence of drugs or alcohol the customer might be liable for the full cost.

Any Insurance doesn’t cover the following:

Rental Cancellation Policy:

– 01 day before rental period start: (no charge, %100 free cancellation)

-During rental period: (01-day cancellation fees and the rest of reservation is refunded). In case of misuse of the vehicle during rental period it is subject to cancel the reservation and take one day penalty

CTE TRAVEL Egypt have all right to cancel any reservation in the following cases:

  • In case of no show or delay for prepaid reservations: delay for 08 hours
  • In case payment on arrival (reservation made by inquiry): delay (more than 01 hour)
